Keep running out of time on pattern folding..

Pattern folding is kicking my BUTT! It takes me forever to derive the correct answer. I'm a little worried because I'm on the 6th CDP test and I'm still running out of time! I'm doing well on all of the other sections, but I have to end up guessing on most of the pattern foldings because the clock is about to run out 🙁 I usually get to the pattern folding section with about 15 minutes left on the clock, and it's still not enough time. I've been averaging 20's on CDP but I'm not happy with that score.... If i could bump up my PF score I'd be getting 21's or 22's (which I'd be super excited to get).

I bought Ross's PAT videos yesterday & watched the one on pattern folding, and it was super helpful but I just feel like in order to choose the right answer you have to go and analyze every little detail in each answer choice to the main folding pattern...and it takes foooorever.

Any advice???! My DAT is in 5 days and I feel pretty prepared except for this section..

step 1, eliminate the choices with incorrect orientations, some of the choices have the wrong orientation, get rid of them.
step 2, proceed to your regular strat.

well, luckily the pattern folding is the last part of the PAT. So whatever time you have left is dependent on how you did on the previous sections.

Thanks guys. It just feels like no matter how much I practice I'm still super slow at it. I guess I'll just pray the pattern folding on the real thing isn't too bad ;x

It is harder than CDP but easier than Achiever, at least on my version. Best strategy is to eliminate answers by orientation and then look for an identfiable shape from 2D pattern and find it in 3D shape and see if the things around it correlate. It takes practice to be able to do it quickly and accurately, but with practice you should be able to improve on it.
