Hi everyone! I just found this forum a few weeks ago and absolutely love all the advice and comments. And after simply being a reader for so long, I finally have something to contribute! I wanted to share a website I found a couple of weeks ago. promedmail.org is a website that keeps you updated on infectious diseases around the world. If you are interested in emerging infectious diseases, zoonotic diseases, vector-borne diseases, animal diseases etc etc, I suggest you subscribe to the website. You find out about outbreaks almost as soon as they happen!

Enjoy!

This website seems great. I am planning on merging a veterinary degree with some sort of involvement in emerging infectious disease research. I am absolutely obsessed with prions and hope I can be of some help or get involved with research on this field in the future.

Any who, thank you for the website!! 😀

i am signed up for the weekly updates 😀 they are great! when i first signed up though, i did the daily, and omgg you get sooo many emails lol so i recommend the wed. weekly updates

anyone else thinking spammer with spammer aliases?

I get the daily ones only because I have to look busy at work. When I open my email to read these updates, it looks like I am doing something productive.

Me too! Most of my life I've wanted to become an equine vet, but after taking microbiology and virology last year (which I both loved!!!) I wonder if I can somehow merge an equine practice with research of infectious diseases/microbes?
Thanks for the website! I'm definitely signing up!

Yeah, I get an average of 20-30 emails a day from them. I use MS outlook though, so I've got it set so that they go straight into a folder of their own and dont clog up my inbox. That way, I can go through them when I have time, and dont have to worry about missing something important inbetween all the promed emails!

I went through a prion obsession for a while as well! Now my main obsession is parasitic infection hahaha

This is great! Thanks!

That's exactly my experience. I want to do LA/Equine (haven't decided if i want to do JUST equine yet) but after taking micro and working in a micro lab for the past year, I go back and forth with this idea as well.
