wut would u guys do to keep in touch with old supervisors (or profs, ppl who have been ur reference)? i found it hard, especially i dun even get to see them anymore and some moved to other cities, and it'll be really awkward to send them emails asking for reference when u haven't been in touch w/ them for a year or two.....do u guys think sending them greeting cards during holidays like new yr would help or it'll be weird? any other suggestions?

I don't think it's weird to ask for LORs when you haven't seen them for awhile... it's not always comfortable, but professors and supervisors generally consider LOR-writing to be one of many facets of their job, and they understand that your future plans can change even when you no longer see them every day.

I have kept in touch with some of them. You don't have to if it doesn't feel natural. I certainly don't recommend sending them holiday cards! If you need a reference, you can contact them and say hi, ask how they're doing, tell them what you're up to, and ask if they'd be willing to provide a reference.
