I have 2 interview in the next week that I will have to fly for. I don't have one of those special bags for suits, so I'm going to have to fold it to pack it. Is there a special way to pack it so that it won't wrinkle?

I first rolled up my jeans and then I rolled up my suit over my jeans. And if you are staying at a hotel, they have an iron and ironing board you can use 🙂

Hi wzhu,

I wore a light beige dress suit but it looked like a skirt suit. I made sure it ended at my knees. I wore very conservative-looking black heels. The heels were < 3 inches. If you wear heels, make sure it's comfortable enough to walk in and it's not hooker-ish with those big platforms and tall heels lol. We are not there to try to look sexy and seductive lol.. we are there to be professionals. I believe heels look better than flats most of the time... assuming the heels are conservative and comfortable. I personally wore my hair half-up... just to get my hair out of my face and resist touching it. As long as your hair is neat and doesn't cover half your face, any hair style should be fine. IMO, keep it natural or simply tie it back without hair products. As for glasses or contacts, just wear what you normally wear and just be yourself as much as possible. And if you are wearing a skirt suit, make sure it's at the knees or below! Good luck!

I disagree a bit with the conservative look. I was recently at an interview and there were two very fine sexy babes interviewing. It was quite apparent the admissions coordinator, who definitely had pull on the decision, was flirting with both girls and would flex his influence to get them accepted. It was unfair for us dudes and the other plain looking girls, but I don't blame him and would probably do the same if I were him lol.

With that being said, I would go with heels and skirts above the knees. You don't want to look like an Amish woman after all.

lol I guess it depends on the person... not all coordinators are men... and not all men are like that. And a women (or man) can look attractive without being provocative. Maybe it's just me, but showing more skin is not sexy. In the end, it's much safer to go the conservative route.

Put your suit in first when you start packing. Put in half of it first, allowing the other half to hang outside the luggage. Then pack everything else over your suit (sleeping clothes, jeans, etc). After all of that, lay the outside half of the suit over everything. By doing this, you stop the suit from folding on itself and prevent any hard creases.

Inevitably, you are going to get a few wrinkles. I usually get them in the arm sleeves. First thing you do when you get to your inn/hotel, put up the suit to hang. I usually do not want to bother with ironing, so what I do is let my suit separates hang in the restroom while I take a hot shower. Then, just let it hang there for a while. The steam will soften the fabric and gravity will usually take most of the wrinkles off for me. That's how I do it, and it has been working for me. Hope that helps.

I think Nguyen looked hot even with the conservative suit look. In my opinion

I have tried every single way on youtube..i've had the best results with this method so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDGWW7_O2sI

Don't do the ones where you invert the sleeve inside out and stuff the other sleeve, then roll it. You get too many micro wrinkles. Hard to keep it neat.

Whatever you do, you'll have bumps, which you can take out by hanging it in the bathroom while a hot shower is running.

Do I see an SDN romance in the making?

I saw this thing on Youtube that said if you roll a suit jacket up, it won't wrinkle during travel. Worth a try, maybe? Search the video.

I would strongly suggest a garment bag though. You can get them at any Target or Walmart for $10 or less.

Garment bag + Wrinkle free spray = No worries 🙂

Would this work? How about stuffing your suit with your t-shirts and underwear? Wouldn't this prevent wrinkles?

I looked up on youtube how to fold a suit. I'm not sure wrinkles can be completely avoided though. The night before the interview, I hung up my suit in the bathroom and let the steam from the shower take them out. Worked brilliantly.

Stuff it with a couple of bath towels to help it keep its shape. When you get to your hotel, throw the shower on hot and let it sit in the steam for a minute and you should be good.

haha I agree. I saw this happen too. Surprisingly dental students are pretty good looking. It def goes pharmacy > dental > med in the looks department lol. That being said, I still think you should go conservative. The safe route can never hurt you.

get a free garment bag from macys, and airplanes have closets reserved to hang suits. no need to worry about any folding.

Yes, use the garment closet on the place. Upon exiting, trade your men's warehouse suit for some dude's Bironi. Can't go wrong.

Enter plane with backpack and black carry on with pink shoelace attached for identification. Exit plane with pocketbook and brown gym bag. ?!?!?!?! WHAT HAPPENED?
Can't go wrong
