The BR shows how Aldose can be converted to a Ketose

Just a quick question, can this occur the other way as well??

Yes, in basic solutions they can interconvert. This is why when you do a tollens test you get a positive for fructose, it converts from a ketone into an aldehyde.

On the topic list, it says monosaccharide reactions, of which I'm guessing this is one, although it's not listed specifically...though I'm not totally sure. Could someone clarify? thanks!
