Has any nontrad here ever used Khan academy to help them study for the mcat? If so was it helpful?

I mostly used Khan during my post-bacc as a study tool for my classes, but I used it a bit for the MCAT. I wouldn't recommend using it as your only study guide because it doesn't teach you about the MCAT test itself which is half the battle, but it can be helpful on specific subjects you need help with or something you didn't get in your regular classes.

Good luck!

Khan is helpful but for the MCAT I mostly used freelance teacher (all videos are on YouTube) for PS section. That tutor is fantastic. He's slow an deliberate-exactly what I needed to solidify concepts. He's the greatest!

ya know what it is its been about 8 years since i took physics and gen chem and i have to say i did what i had to to to do well in them both but i dont think i really learned the material so now that i just started going back to it. I dont remember anything.

am i wasting my time on studying content?

would you suggest studying content along with say the EK books.
i feel like the review books alone are not enough......

thanks!

If you think you'll need a deeper review of the material, I would go with Berkeley Review. If you're still fresh with the material, you could probably go EK. And if you can get your hands on them, Princeton Review Hyperlearning has really good Verbal and Science Workbooks. They're hard to find, though, and tend to be really expensive.

Yeah he has his own website (just google freelance teacher) and he lists the videos in suggested viewing order. All of them launch through YouTube. He's the best!

I used EK, a private tutor and Khan basically. I was just finishing my post-bacc though, so I was really fresh in all the info.

I liked Khan because I felt like it gave me just enough for the MCAT to get me familiar with a topic so that I could think it through for myself on the actual test. I don't think you're wasting your time studying content, but keep in mind you don't need to delve super deep. You'll never be able to really learn everything that's on the MCAT. There will always be something that surprises you. I'd suggest refreshing your memory on the big topics, then start taking the AAMC practice tests. If you feel you need more in depth subject review at that point, get it done!

Disclaimer - this is just what worked for me!!

He has been my hero throughout my post-bac. That said, I wouldn't use him for the MCAT unless you have a problem area. His explanations are way too broken down and your time is better off spent elsewhere brushing up.

If you need to re-learn something from scratch he is awesome. When (if) I get into med school, the guy is getting a donation since I'll owe Steve (that is freelances name) a large part of it.
