Came across a question in kaplan that is confusing my cerbral cortex.

Which of the following is not true about aldosterone.

1.Stimulates reabsorption of Na+
2. Stimulates release of Ka+
3. Results in concentrated urine.
4. Produced by adrenal cortex.
5. Known as vasopressin.

To me all of these answers seem correct but the answer is 5. I thought aldosterone was a vasopressin....

ADH is also known as vasopressin, not aldosterone. Aldosterone is released by the adrenal cortex (released by ACTH hormone of the anterior pituitary). It acts on the distal convoluted tubule of the nephron.

(I always get the two confused as well haha. Just keep going over it and it'll stick)

Also you should know that aldosteron increases Na absorption and K secretion

I'm guessing it's actually K+, as in potassium.

I'm guessing it should read K+ (i.e. potassium).
