yes, the primary application is all of AMCAS, then, when you submit that application the schools will decide (if they screen) if your stats are good enough for them to send you an application specific to their school. This is your secondary. There are a few schools that do not screen and just send everyone on that list a secondary (there is another thread with the list.) After your secondary the schools will either reject you or offer you an interview.

I concur. However, I think most schools do not really screen. UC's were an exception, but over half of the rest of my secondaries came automatically the day after my AMCAS vas verified. 75% of the remaining ones came within a week or so. I think the only school I did not ultimately receive a 2nd from was Vandy, and I had relatively average stats.

If they do screen, they're using a computer.

wow. So basically you can fill out your secondary online?? Anyone applying to NYU? was the application long?

Most schools have you fill out the secondary online. There are some exceptions... University of South Carolina comes to mind for me.

NYU has a more involved application than some others (MCW, etc were literally just click the multiple choice answer to a couple questions and submit), but it's still fairly tame. I think there are 4 miniessays on NYU's application, with a limit of 250 words, I believe. You can read more about the secondaries in the secondary application threads for each school: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=604

Most schools don't screen? You sir had a very different experience than I did.

I recieved no secondaries until Thursday Night, June 26 and the secondaries came trickling in. Many schools contacted me to say they got my primary, (over a week after June 24) and would get back to me with a secondary if I passed their screen.

EDIT: oops, i read the beginning of the thread wrong. but it's true, most schools don't screen.

I'm a rising junior and I was just wondering when most students post their primaries and send in their secondaries? When is the "early period" and the "normal period"?
