so i have like a 3.3 overall gpa and a 2.9 science gpa.

im really worried. i always thought if i did really well on the DAT, i can offset both GPA's, but i dont know anymore. i take the DAT in like 2 weeks. im brushing up on destroyer, topscore in a few days, and chads videos

i dont know what to do anymore.

what score TS and AA would make me academic for USC and western and NYU , uop, ucla, maryland, unlv, asdoh, etc

I have a 3.0 overall and 2.8 science, so I am even more hopeless than you. The way I see it is just do your best from this point on. If you can do that, then there will be no regrets. So stop doubting yourself and concentrate on the DAT.

I think the best thing that happened to me was already accepting reality. If I get in, thats great. If I don't, then hey "that's alright to." Theres worse things in life then not getting into dental school, and you can always try again for next cycle. So don't doubt yourself!

Anyways a high DAT would offset it. I'm assuming 20+?

your predent says 3.2 sci gpa 🙂
I think you need around 20 or 21 AA to offset your gpa

Hey 2Pac,
This is exactly why I have a love/hate relationship with SDN. Skewed representations abound on this site. None of us really has a true idea of what the applicant pool looks like at the respective schools we are applying to. I took my DAT about a week ago, and all summer, all I did was check SDN, study, check SDN, study. Maybe not the best idea when you're seeing 20 plus scores all over the place. But then again, most people with 18's are not likely to post.
I'm sure you've already e-submitted your apps, and your EC's and LOR's are great. Just like others have said, focus on what you can control and the rest will come. I'm applying this cycle so I'm also learning along the way, just you. But the best thing I did to keep my sanity is to not constantly compare myself, my stats, and my academic career to the person next to me. Just focus on you and your abilities and God will bless your efforts. All the best 🙂🙂 You're going to Destroy the DAT!

Highly recommend getting the crack DAT PAT practice tests (the other subjects are not needed from them, 5 tests is plenty keep it cheaper). They helped big time. Get used to speed, I flew through the QR part of the test and had 10 seconds to spare, hard to finish. Practice tests on computer are your best bet to get used to it, topscore/achiever. Good luck to you.

If you have already graduated, I would suggest you keep on taking a few science classes for the Fall term. Also start looking into post-bacc and Masters program that you can possibly start in the spring. If you don't have any interviews by the time december rolls around, it would be in your best interest in enroll in some type of academic program. That way when you apply next year you will already have a more competitive application. Good luck though, just focus on your DAT for now.

Don't doubt. put a plan into action. I say get as high of DAT as possible but also get your sci gpa above 3.0 - this will also raise your overall gpa too.

the USC class average for 2010 is 3.2ish for both science and overall, and the DAT average is about 18.5 for all. I think as long as you get a 20+ on the DAT you should be considered for a interview. Even in california where competition is ridiculous for all 6 schools, they take kindly to instaters moreso than OOS so im banking on that to help me out. Seems like every school here has at least 50% of the people accepted from a UC which is also a plus.

A few weeks ago you said you were going to get a 30 on gen chem and ochem on the DAT. What happened to that attitude?

Just wait and see how your DAT goes; it's all speculation until you have that score. Go study instead of paying so much attention to these boards.

oh dont get me wrong. i will! 30 on gchem and ochem!

Jaw dropping performance like that on the DAT will certainly catch the eye of admissions personal despite a low GPA. :meanie:

Keep this attitude, dominate the DAT, and I know you'll be in great shape and ideal for interviews/acceptance! 😀
