a gas with empirical formula CH is found to take about 40% more time to diffuse the same dsitance as neon. What is the molecular formula of the gas?

how would you approach this question? Thanks!

perhaps graham's law of diff/eff?

rateA/rateB= rad(mol mass of rateB)/rad(mol mass of rateA)

if rate A: speed of gas
rate B: speed of Ne

(1+0.4)=rad(mol mass Ne)/rad(mol mass x)

find x, then decide how it is empirically distributed for C and H?

but be warned, i don't even qualify as a predent...going to ucla for UNDERGRAD next year...i wish time passed more quickly 😕

i just graduated high school, so if this is wrong, don't be surprised.
