Granted, I'm not from the LA area so I don't know the intricacies of the debate, but I thought the LA Times did a pretty in-depth review of Kind/Drew's difficulties, especially the financial analysis piece.
Blindly throwing charges of racism, bias, etc. around instead of taking a long, hard look at the facts of the situtation, why there were twice as many malpractice suits brought against a medical center that sees 1/2 the patients as Harbor, why the cost of care per patient is so high, why the amount of worker's comp. at King is $10 mil more than Harbor, etc. etc. etc.
ACGME didn't shut down their surgery, rads, and neonat. residencies for nothing. JCAHO isn't recommending revoking accredidation because of racism. They are doing this because there are large, fundamental flaws in the hospital that put the patients health at risk!
