SDN is not for medical advice, ya, ya, ya, I get it but was wondering if anyone here has had this happen.

My domestic shorthair cat had four kittens, now two days old. One of the kittens has died and it looks as though the dead kitten's placenta has dried and is now stuck to another kitten firmly. My cat is an inexperienced mom and I don't want to traumatize her.

I plan to take my cat (fortunately she travels well) and all the kittens to the vet in the morning but not sure if I should do something different now. I was thinking I should probably cut the umbilical cord but all the kittens look so fragile I don't want to hurt them. At first we thought the cord was a leg until the mama washed them good.

You are absolutely correct, SDN is not for soliciting medical advice. If you're worried about what you should do with the kittens between now and tomorrow, please seek advice from an ER veterinarian/24-hr clinic. Closing thread.
