Hello!

So from reading reviews about Klein's Organic Chemistry I&II As A Second Language and textbook on Amazon and from the forums on Student Doctor, I can see that there's an overwhelming consensus that his Second Language books are incredible staples for college Organic Chemistry classes. His textbooks have positive, but lesser, reviews but for the ones I read about on Student Doctor the pattern seems to always prefer the textbook over the books.

My Organic Chemistry class will be using McMurry's textbook (8th) and the reviews seem to vary, but overall imply that the text is good for what it is in the class.

For anyone who has used Klein's Second Language books, textbook, and/or McMurry's text for Organic Chemistry, would you think it's necessary to buy Klein's textbook in addition to already having (an apparently good text like) McMurry's for the class or would the Second Language books be enough? And please say what semester(s) you used the books/textbooks for.

On a side note, I would be getting the newest editions of Klein's punishments.

Thanks!

I'm going to be taking Orgo this upcoming semester and have looked at Klein's SL as well as McMurry (since my school is also using it).
Having gone through about 70% of Orgo I just looking ahead, I can safely say that McMurry touches on the specifics of many concepts that Klein's SL give a nice overview for. Second Language is a supplement and should be treated as such. Second Language is not a textbook on its own, just a resource to go to for extra help.
