Do we have to learn dentistry in details like how the instrument work, billing procedures, and different fields of dentistry in details? Has any one been asked detail questions during the interview?

Know the basics like what the instruments do, what the regular procedures are. Billing you don't need to know as a dentist many times.

Hellz to the no! They want to get to know who you are and your background. Know your application well and your motivation to become a dentist.

you have to know EVERYTHING. They even expect you to know how to drill a tooth by now. Root canals are a little tough, but you should be able to do one on a plastic tooth if they need you to.

You should also know the names of all the equipment used in a dental office (including ALL the equipment used by all the other specialties)... these are common topics that show up on interviews.

Umm... what else? Um billing? of course you have to know about billing, all the insurance policies, everything about medicaid/medicare, and the whole works.

Learning instrumentation is part of what ds do; billing procedures is not.

Right. During interview some schools will set up a tray and ask you to identify them and write a short essay on how they are used.

Focus more on how the dentist interacts with patients and what s/he does during a standard day in the office. We will learn all the instruments and procedures in dental school. Schools will ask you about what you saw during shadowing and why you feel you'd be a good dentist.

They usually don't ask Q about things you don't know. If you Havnt done research they will not ask you a research Q. If you have not worked in a dental office, don't expect Q about office related stuff. They have your file. They'll ask you Q based on that.

Honestly, you don't have to know dentistry to the point of knowing every single facial nerve. But I would suggest that you at the very least know your favorite dental procedure and why (I was asked this at an interview) as well as favorite speciality. Nothing complex.
