The !Kung usually treat the attainment of higher esoteric levels (black magic) as a different form of education. Discuss amongst yourselves.
No, actually, I wondered about the healer/ teacher question as well, but I sort of pulled some "antropology of religion" out of my butt. Apparently a lot of similar tribes view healers a bit like ritual/ religious specialists. So, in order to be a healer, students must have a knowledge of spirits, astral planes, animal guides, plants, etc. I hope it is the correct answer though.
I kept wondering the whole time, what was with the exclamation point before the Kung. Emphasis on the K? Is that how the tribe spell it? (I can't imagine that they'd use our grammatical symbols...)
