The !Kung usually treat the attainment of higher esoteric levels (black magic) as a different form of education. Discuss amongst yourselves. :)

No, actually, I wondered about the healer/ teacher question as well, but I sort of pulled some "antropology of religion" out of my butt. Apparently a lot of similar tribes view healers a bit like ritual/ religious specialists. So, in order to be a healer, students must have a knowledge of spirits, astral planes, animal guides, plants, etc. I hope it is the correct answer though.

I kept wondering the whole time, what was with the exclamation point before the Kung. Emphasis on the K? Is that how the tribe spell it? (I can't imagine that they'd use our grammatical symbols...)

Anyway,

Sev

i ran out of time on this passage and picked Kung as a healer. Was it a healer or a teacher?

I think the "!" is a phonic guide and indicate a clicking sound made with the tongue.

Yeah, I do hope it's healer too.

Thats true, its prevalent in most African countries.

well it wasnt teacher..beacasue...it passage cleary stated that most of the children dont go through formal education....so i picked healer

They talked about the ONLY specialized training was in "black magic." They otherwise didn't like specialized training, thus it has to be healers.
