I didn't want to hi-jack the other LIU thread. Had to make a new one.

I emailed Brooklyn's email@add 3 weeks ago for info on pre-pharm phase, and I didn't get any reply! not even a spam lol :scared:

If you go here (http://www.brooklyn.liu.edu/pharmacy/admissions_PharmD.html), it will tell you this, "If you are seeking admission for the pre-pharmacy program (years 1 & 2) then you should consult the Undergraduate Bulletin and the Fall 2008 Pharmacy Guidelines Booklet for application instructions."

So now I clicked on the Undergraduate Bulletin. (http://www.brooklyn.liu.edu/course/under_bulletin0709.pdf) Page 103, Paragraph 2. "The preprofessional phase of the program, offered through Richard L. Conolly College" <--that's Brooklyn's Campus right?😱😕

So after reading the Undergraduate Bulletin, I moved on to the Fall 2008 Pharmacy Guideline. On this page it's telling me to goto brooklyn.liu.edu to apply, however, the pre-pharm courses doesn't even exist there. If u apply and where it ask you for Intended Major, pre-pharmacy won't show up. WTF?

My questions are...

Is the pre-pharm phase offered at C.W Post Campus? And not Richard Conolly Brooklyn?
I just read Pharmkid89's post and says he just finished his 1st year of pre-pharm at C.W Post.:scared:😕😱Their website is really misleading.

Anyone starting their first pre-pharm year @ L.I.U. this fall '08?
How did you apply? Online or Person?

How much is the tuition including dorm? How much without dorm?

I think on the web it says they only accept 200 seats, but I didn't really understand it that much. Is it 200 seats for the Professional Pharm.D program? Or Pre-pharm too?

How competitive is it to get into the pre-pharm phase?

thanks.

Yes they do have the pre-pharm program at C.W post, as well as in Brooklyn, but all the info you can get about the pharmacy program in under Brooklyn campus, since pre-pharm majors from Post have to transfer anyway to the LIU Brooklyn campus or wherever. By the way, I'm a girl..lol. And I agree with you, our website SUCKS.

The pre-pharm phase has more than 200 seats. The professional phase ONLY has 220 seats, in which 20 seats are transfer students. This part of the program is offered in Brooklyn and is not a guarantee for pre-pharm students. You have reapply by your sophomore year via PharmCAS. The tuition is pretty expensive. It raises every year. You have to check out the website for the most current tuition fee. They did not send us a bill for this year yet so I do not know the rate. But usually it is about 13k or 14k a semester for prepharm and 15k or 16k for professional phase. I am not sure how much dorming is.

Don't dorm at LIU Brooklyn, it is NOT worth it at all. They don't allow you to go without a roommate. You have to use a community bathroom for the first year that you're going there. The rooms are pretty crappy also, no carpeting, no furnishing. They make you take a meal plan unless you have an "apartment".

Not only that, the cable TV sucks. They have Internet but its really hard to hook up your Xbox 360, Playstation 3 to it. Not only that, but they monitor what you are doing also, so if you are a person who downloads like 30 GB of movies every week like me, you get banned from the network.

Oh yeah, the guys over at the "Genius Corner", or technical support for computers, are all *******es and tools of the system. I asked them if they knew a website where I could get cracks for software, they had no idea at all.

What a surprise! I finally received a reply.

"The online pharmacy application for Fall 2009 will not be available until the end of September. We have not accepted any pre-pharmacy transfer students for the past few years as their were no seats. We do not yet know if will be accepting pre-pharmacy students for Fall 2009. Thanks"

That's from [email protected]

So unprofessional.

Wow, it seems like CW Post is much better, even though it's not as great due to similar reasons. The rooms in some of the dorms have carpeting, and the TV cable is very good, but the bathrooms and the dining services..UGHHHH!!! And I always thought Brooklyn was better.

Hell no dude, when they opened the new dorms it was rodent infested.

You're much better off finding an apartment in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and just commuting. If you find an apartment in Long Island, just take the LIRR in. If you find an apartment in Queens, apply for a motorcycle permit and ride in.

LIU Pharmacy starts classes at 8AM and there's no way around that. If you're driving a car, you'll have to leave your house like at 6:30 to get there on time. Motorcycle, you can cut off an hour from the time because motorcycles are allowed to lane filter(when there is a line of cars at a stop light, motorcycles are allowed to go to the front of the line.)

Hey well I don't have a question for your reply, but was it hard to get in the professional phase? And was it hard to get in the pre pharmacy program? And do you like your job?

Thank you so much

I did pre-pharmacy at LIU. Wasn't too hard to get into. I didn't get into the professional phase at LIU. GPA was too low from failing Organic Chem.
