Hey guys!
I'm new to pre-D.O forum, though have been on SDN for awhile.
Just need your advice or a link on the format for a letter from the D.O. I'm what's considered a nontrad, 36 y.o M, RN x 16 yrs, M.S in Acupuncture and Oriental Med. I now work in my private practice, and have two D.O associates (referrals n stuff). I actually went through the LOR thing when I was accepted to ROSS (Carib school) 2 years ago. But that was painless, and school has those forms just to rate and sign. I did two semesters, and came back. Being away from my family, and some health problems made it impossible to continue there for me. But that's a different story alltogether.
Any help is greatly appreciared.

Thanks 🙂

I am not so sure if there is a specific format for a D.O. letter. I would consider it as any other letters of recommendation you would sent to med schools. I am sure that it won't be a problem for you, but in some schools, D.O. letters are required while some schools do not. My application was delayed because of the letter from D.O., and I wish that I had been more agressive about it before. The physician was busy and I did not want to bug her too many times. If I can give you any advice from my own experience, set a deadline for yourself and when you ask your doctors to write, provide them with a deadline. If you can give them 3-4 weeks of time, that is generally sufficient. Good luck.

I gave mine plenty of time (at least a month) and also a deadline that was actually 2 weeks sooner than I really wanted the letters (which was way before they were due) and I ended up getting them about right on the "deadline" I had set for myself... it worked out beautifully! 😍

Actually, quite a few DO schools also include an evaluation form like this along with the secondary application to be used in place of a personally written LOR. Although a personal LOR is probably better...
