I am in a bit of a predicament here and would love the always hilarious and sometimes beneficial advice of SDN. 😛

I am currently a second semester soph psych and obviously pre-med major. I am currently not doing anything except for being part of some clubs and a fraternity because I am really struggling to get any applications accepted. Volunteer applications went like hotcakes in the first 24hrs at the hospital so that is out the window although I have 50hours under my belt so I plan on being accepted in the summer batch. Any who I have been applying like crazy to research positions and other positions so heres the pickle...

I have a job offer lined up to be a lab assistant and basically the "possibility" of being a nursing assistant. So the decision here is which one do I chase after?

Considerations I have been dealing with...
"lab assistant" isint research assistant I am talking to the person running the lab if I could get involved more with the research so that I can be an actual research assistant but who knows what direction that will go. I wonder if being a lab assistant and doing grunt work is even worth it then? What does SDN think?

Nursing Assistant I have applied to and have not heard back. My friend who is a nursing assistant told me they are hiring but nothing so far.. not even a returned phone call... I would love to be a nursing assistant and feel as though it may be more valuable but who knows...maybe sdn haha

anyway what do you all think 😳

You take the guaranteed job while waiting to hear back about the possible job.

well said! I have probably just been thinking about it to much when you put it like that. What do people think about the title of a "lab assistant" vs "research assistant" is it as bad as it sounds?

Doesn't matter what the title is. What you do and how you reflect on it is what matters.

your just pulling out all the memorable quotes and lines! Thanks for the help MedPR

Agree with MedPR.

I, personally, would take the CNA job. Being in the trenches and seeing the nitty gritty of medicine would help me solidify if the medical world is right for me or not.

I'd love to get take a few months off and get a medical assistant or CNA cert and start working at a hospital part time, but I'm already stuck at CC for 3 more years before I can transfer (assuming I stick with the biology route), so an extension of that would make me explode.
