This isn't a thread about a discussion about the COVID-19 origins. This is being discussed elsewhere.

I just want to point out two very important points that the subject highlights.

The DOE has come out and said that a lab leak is the likely source (but agree the data on the subject is low quality). Many tabloid and political opinion sites (like CNN, CBS, etc.) as well as some news organizations (WSJ, etc.) ran articles on the subject.

Here is point #1. After reading this, I was once again reminded how taboo it was to even suggest that lab-leak could be the case. In fact, it was racist to even suggest such a thing. Now the thought that struck me was -- this idea came from an email from FAUCI and some other dude who said to one another that they needed to move quickly to squash the lab-leak idea and paint it as a conspiracy theory. What is amazing, is that from this single email, they had the power to create MASSIVE belief in MOST people that the idea of a lab leak was ridiculous and conspiratorial, and maybe even hurtful to even discuss. Somehow, this small amount of people were able to conjure up this support that was massive in scale, and very effective - even when the narrative was mostly false. This, I think, is HUGELY important and concerning.

Point #2: If you happened to be in the camp that believed this idea that there was NO WAY the virus could have been a lab mistake, and you went along with the narrative that it was racist to even consider it, or that it was just a bunch of conspiracy folks trying to bring heat against "the man", you will likely see point #1 as no big deal, and say something like "well the government is always trying to pressure news people and they are doing what they do, just cover up stuff." This is so fascinating. Point #1, is a big deal - but if you were bamboozled, you will see it as no big deal. It is funny how our egos as so fragile we struggle to see shadows as representations of real things, even when someone who knows the truth tell us it is so. Sometimes we even kill that person (how's that reference to The Cave allegory?!!)

I have been bamboozled lots of time. I bought Colin Powell's presentation about WMD hook, line, and sinker. I thought Trump wasn't a rapist. I've been tricked so many times.

However, the goal should be that each time I am, I am willing to accept reality when presented new evidence.

What is also a good question - is why this narrative now? Could it be that 3 years ago, the powers didn't want us to be against China - but now that things have changed, people accepting a lab leak is more desirable? It makes you wonder what these insiders are up to.
