Laboratory class in Pharmacy School

i'm curious too...not so much because i'm bad at them...in fact i'm very efficient...it's just that i'm too lazy and i find them so tedious haha.

We have two semesters of compounding labs, but no "experiments". We learn basic compounding. We also have a practice lab, in which you learn needed skills such as taking BP, blood glucose, etc. and you learn the proper use of all kinds of stuff. They're not bad, and don't really take up much time at all!

Sounds fun 🙂
I don't know if this is true of all schools, but the ones I interviewed at test you on your compounding skills. After you make something, they test it to make sure you put in the right ingredients and amount.

Ours doesn't. All they do is looke at the product and toss it. Then again, we use a lot of lactose in place of active ingredients.

We do use real APIs, but they don't test it. They just visually inspect it for our product points (including label).
Good to know, since I tend to drop, spill and break things.
You'll get better with practice... I was the same way for gen chem lab when doing the quantitative analysis. I broke 2 test tubes in one lab! (And had to start the analysis all over again... twice!!) But the next week another girl broke 5 test tubes, a 50 mL beaker and a 100 mL beaker!!! So she holds the new record in my lab
Anyway, I'm doing fine now... haven't broken a thing since. Some people are naturals. For the rest of us mere mortals, it just takes practice.
i'm just glad that we won't be titrating until the solution turns purple, then recording the volume, then tossing the solution and repeating for 3 hours.

I currently hold the record in my class. In one period, I broke my 300ml, 400ml, and 500ml beakers, a round bottom flask, and spilled concentrated sulfuric acid all over my bench.
To date, in addition to those items, I've broken a 25ml Erlenmyer flask, a 100ml beaker, and a thermometer. I'm a walking calamity in laboratories. I should be banned, really.

At least you didn't set anything on fire!!!i'm just glad that we won't be titrating until the solution turns purple, then recording the volume, then tossing the solution and repeating for 3 hours.
I totally understand this feeling! Gen chem lab was the most boring lab ever.
You guys should be glad you didn't have to take upper division chemistry labs - inogranic chemistry, biophysical chemistry, instrumental analysis or biochemistry labs. Those are the labs where when the class ends at 5 and you are there till 8 - the prof says maybe you should stay till 10.
biochem labs are just as equally tedious

Do most pharm schools have biochem lab? The ones I seen only seem to have lecture.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one to have broken test tubes constantly!
