In terms of stuff that is important for the USMLE which is more useful: labs or lecture? Labs I find to be very boring and I dont do very well on them. Are there lots of anatomical/histo/cell ID pictures on the boards or should I just not worry about this stuff?

There isn't a lot of histology on the boards at all let alone anatomy.

You should know pathological specimens though.

Agreed. Most of first year is actually low yield. The test is heavily weighted toward pathophys and other second year lecture based courses. So I agree, the labs are probably not going to net you many questions. But you have to realize that the boards, although crucial in the residency process, were not designed to test everything that is important to know. They are designed to make sure people have a MINIMUM level of knowledge. So the labs are still important to your education. Just not board important. So I'd still try to learn the stuff well -- it may prove to be good foundation later on. But no, it won't net you much on step 1.
