just wondering if anyone has either faced this as an issue or have any information on this.

is it REALLY that looked down to a point where you might not get interviews for residency, if you have taken a couple of years off after completing basic sciences to take step 1?

or do people generally make up for that in clinicals?

The question will be why the break and what did you do during that time off?

If you say you took a couple years off to study for step I then that would not be good but if you took time off to do research or had a personal reason that makes sense then most programs will be fine with it as long as it isn't something that will threaten the continuity of your residency training.

If you score well on step I then I doubt anyone will hold it against you just because you took time off but a break in medical education is something that you will need to explain when applying for residency. It seems to me that it would be harder to take step I after a break.

edit: and BTW you're new but don't post the same thread in 2 forums.

this is interesing cuz i know a lot of IMGs take time off so i wonder the same thing. How do people score spots after taking huge chunks of time off.

and just out of a curiosity why is it a problem for someone to post the same thread in 2 forums? maybe the dude just wanted to make sure most ppl saw it so he can get the best answer, whats wrong with that?

It's part of the rules of the forum. I personally don't really care but just wanted to let the poster know.
