Hey guys -

Don't post here much. Between work and applications, not much time for anything else. But I was wondering, for Texas schools, what is the expected time between submitting your apps and getting an interview invite? If you applied in early June, and have yet to hear anything deep into August - is that a bad sign? I plan on calling all of the schools next week to see if I am even under consideration. Any advice, input would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I guess the problem is that its so variable, its really hard to give a good answer. If your stats are exemplary, you'll probably get one or two auto-invites (don't know about texas, but in general), or you'll get a few quick invites. If your stats are more normal, it could be anywhere from 1 month wait to 5 month wait. 🙁
For me, I haven't gotten any yet, but I just submitted so I'll start getting worried around the end of November if all my schools are silent.

I can think of two possible reasons:
- no one really knows... eg. expected time frame depends on the strength of your app.
- it's that time of the month again when med students are studying for exams, binge partying, etc... too busy for sdn

Sorry I can't help. I'm in the same boat in terms of Texas schools so I'm hoping for an answer too. I also want to know how they "prioritize" potential interviewees. Like, once you go complete, do they make a decision right then, for good or bad? or do they have a "wait till later" pile they'll put earlier applicants in to look at later to see if they should interview them?

You can submit your secondary in August and get an interview invite several days later. You can submit your secondary in August and get an interview invite in March.

It varies wildly and the differences can be attributed to a number of things - the applicant's profile, the school's particular schedule, what the school is looking for, etc. That's why it's so difficult to pinpoint exactly how much time is between submission and an invite. It could be anywhere from a day to over six months.

Thanks for the replies. This just reaffirmed what I was thinking. If I called some of the adcoms at the schools I applied to, do you think they would let me know if I was even under consideration?

Thanks!

If your application is complete, just be patient. 🙂

if it helps, i've been complete in texas for about 2 months, and I haven't heard anything at all yet. I'm OOS btw.

if you're complete, just be patient, you're going to be fine.

:luck:

I was fully complete at all the TX schools about 2-3 weeks ago and I heard back from Tech for an interview last weekend. So Tech moves pretty fast from what I've seen. I've heard San Antonio is notoriously slow also. It all just depends on the school. I wouldn't be worried yet however until October starts rolling around for Texas schools. AMCAS schools usually run a little slower as well from what I understand.

Thanks again! I guess I will try and sit tight😎 I applied last year and was unsuccessful (even though I have decent chances on paper.) Just getting antsy since, from the looks of it, quite a few people on here are already getting interviews/or interviewed at Texas schools.

Thanks!
