does anyone know why small cell lung carcinoma would lead to autoantibody formation against your presynaptic ca2+ channel? (why small cell in particular)

This is more of a science/research question, but I think I can tell you enough for Step 1?
This is a paraneoplastic syndrome, therefore it indirectly affects many parts of the body (e.g. Squamous cell lung cancer causing high serum calcium from PTHrp). Small cell lung cancer is just more likely to produce these syndromes (which I do not know why specifically- if that's your actual question). This is why you can also see small cell cancers giving SIADH, ectopic ACTH, etc.if I had to guess it would be that small cell lung cancers are of neuroendocrine in origin so any bad syndromes they produce might give neuroendocrine effects (like the ones I mentioned above as well as Eaton-Lambert)…but I suppose that's a "hand-wavy" explanation.
