Land Rover

Wow... no wonder these forums are so full of doom and gloom! So many cynics! I'm just trying to share what I believe to be a great story regarding an anesthesiologist on an anesthesiology forum! We've been owning Land Rovers for years and continue to endorse the marque because I genuinely believe the build quality of RR saved my father's life! The CHP told my mother as she claimed the vehicle on the roadside that RR have the best outcomes of all the SUV roll over accidents they respond to.

I rarely post on these forums... now I remember why!

considering that 2 out of your total of 6 posts are here, i wouldn't call it a rarity.

there are NO documented crash tests results from institute of highway safety for ANY of these vehicles. however in consumer reports avoidance maneuver the LR2 dangerously lifted TWO tires off the road - very dangerous and predictive of a flip over, which is why they did NOT recommend this vehicle (LR2) (along with DISMAL reliability and the LOWEST score possible in the category).

the range rover sport gets 9 miles a gallon (again cr tests) in the city - that's pretty irresponsible.

are these cars fun? to some.
are some of them (defender) amazing off road? absolutely.
are they practical, reliable, etc? not when compared to other available options.

Responsibility, Ha!

I say while you still can buy the gas guzzlers with uber amounts of power. I am sure in the near future we'll all be forced to drive golf carts, and the only loop hole will be if you already own one of the said vehicles you can keep it.

The same thing goes with guns, buy them while you still can.

I really wish I had the responsibility to buy a Prius. That car would mean a crapload of money left in the bank. The problem is that it's just no fun, it's a fugly car, and it's a chick deterrent. 😎
It's funny, because despite the fugliness, I tried to buy a Prius in July of 2008. The only one I could find was at a dealer. It was used (about 5,000 miles on it) and they wanted about $4000 above it's NEW value. If I wanted a new one, I had to wait at least 3 months. Having said that, I've very happy with my V6 Honda Accord.

All the sweet hybrid or electric vehicles are like 100K still.

Fisker Karma = 87K

Plus, unless you're hugely wealthy, you've got to be pretty ambivalent about dropping that much cash on an untested technology.

Course you could always get this bad boy:

It's the Commuter Car Tango. It goes 0-60 in 4 seconds and has 805 hp. All the batteries are located below the baseboards, so it's got better handling than a Corvette. Still think it's around 100K though...

Maybe a Chevy Volt? I think it's only going to be around 38K. Plus, you get a 7.5K tax credit to offset the cost some.

Anyone know what's the hardest part of owning a prius?

Is this the punchline to a joke?

Everyone has a prius in PDX.

It IS a chick magnet here!

My wife wants one but we will likely get a better snow vehicle

Test drove a used porsche Cayenne today and I was very impressed. I never would have considered myself to be a porsche person but after taking it on the highway, I am a convert. Very comfortable and stylish. The power is really great for an SUV. Now I just have to find a good deal and the right color.

Very good. Very true.

But, as far as I can tell the hardest part of owning a prius is telling your mom your gay.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
