Hey all, I was wondering if it would be more beneficial in the long-run to spend the summer between M1 and M2 doing research or taking intensive language classes (Spanish).

Is this a joke? Research. Obviously...

Research. No summer crash course is going to teach you Spanish unless they dump you in the middle of a Spanish speaking country and make you live there for three months.

Research. And maybe get rosetta stone or something similar for medical spanish for your free time.

if you want to go to a top academic program or an ultra competitive specialty, research.

Otherwise, do language lessons abroad. It's way more fun.

Why not both? Do research in a spanish-speaking country abroad.

If you're asking the question, you clearly do not want to do research, and would much rather do the language lessons.

As to what is going to be 'more beneficial' for you? Research (with a publication/poster/presentation), obviously.
