Lap tops & PDAs for MSUCOM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey,

I'm just going to bring the computer I have now....its not a lap top but I don't really feel like spending more money when this one works just fine. I don't think I'm going to get a PDA...I just don't think I would use it all that much. Oh and by the way...I got in at MSU also..so looks like we'll be classmates 🙂

I have a friend who is a 4th year at MSU. He told me to get neither. He said you would need to get a PDA that will still be good 3 or 4 years from now, so, at this point, it is a waste or money. As for the laptop, as long as you have something at home you will be fine. He said to just use the computer lab when on campus. If you need a computer, then just get a desktop for half the price of the laptop. I figure, between the laptop and the $700 PDA, he saved me nearly $2200.

Hiya, I'm a first year at MSUCOM. You will NEED neither a laptop nor a PDA. You may decide you want one or the other out of personal preference, but that is entirely up to you. I have a laptop, but that is just the only computer I own and has never left my apartment. I also have a PDA, but have barely used it since coming here. Hope that helps.

Congrats on admission to MSUCOM. See you in 6 months! 🙂
