I just ordered an ASUS F556UA-AS54, any feedback on that bad boy?
While I don't have experience with that exact model, ASUS makes one hell of a computer and the specs look pretty decent. I think you're good to go with that one.

I personally dislike the idea of writing on a tablet/laptop hybrid but have you found it helpful throughout the school year? Anyone have any PC recommendations for this upcoming school year? Ideally in the $400-800 range.

If you just want a laptop that is well built and works go for the XPS 13

The XPS 13 has charger issues, may not be an issue for you, but the plug and jack are not at all designed well. I have replaced each of them multiple times and really wish I had purchased a laptop from a mfg that didn't have a fragile data pin in the middle of the plug to verify that it is a Dell approved charger.

Do you have the 9434 or the 9350?

I'm so sorry for the late reply but yes after finishing M1 I have to say that I've found it immensely helpful having the ability to freely write anywhere and draw anything. That's just my preferred method though.
