So I'm not real laptop savvy. Mainy a desktop PC user because I like a mouse and the fullsize keyboard. A laptop is required for school so I'll need one. Do most dental students use tablets? Or Laptops you can write on? I've never been a fan of these and usually prefer to take notes on pen and paper.

So first thing I would do is check with your school. I was looking up laptops then I saw requirements from my school last year and I had to choose between the Dell XP and the MacBook Pro that's it. No other laptops allowed. That makes my choice a lot easier.

I would like a tablet myself to take notes and supplement my laptop and so I might get the 9.7 iPad Pro for school and have my MacBook for home or anything the school might require.

From what I hear most students use iPads or MacBooks and there are occasional surface pros and books.

Few people take notes by hand because of the extreme amount of power points and PDFs.

Again find your school requirements and go from there. I was going to do a surface book so I could have a powerful laptop and could write but my school doesn't allow it so MacBook Pro it is.

Dell XPS, Macbook Pro, and a Surface Pro are the three I'd recommend. If you are interested in the Macbook, hold off till June since new ones are supposed to be released.
