I am looking to buy a laptop during my intern year.

Does it make a difference if I get a mac or pc - as
far as optho text/cd-roms/programs.

I don't think it will hurt you to get either one. MAC is more multimedia friendly. I use a 600M from Dell, and I prefer PC. Programs are written for both OS. PCs are cheaper, and you have more choices in regards to the bells and whistles you want.
