d-school minimum notebook requirements:

strongly recommended - either Dell or IBM
OS - Windows XP Home or Professional (cannot use Macintosh OS)
processor - 1.4 GHz minimum
memory - 512 MB RAM
CD/DVD & Zip Drive - DVD-Rom required (strongly recommend DVD/CDRW), Zip drive optional
HDD - 40 GB required
screen resolution - 1024x768
connectivity - Ethernet/Wireless/Modem connectivity required

any suggestions? one that's reliable and affordable... :)

I have a dell laptop but it doesn't have a DVD option. Will that be a problem?
 
i'd check out the school that you are going to because i think that some of them supply you with a laptop

the requirements i've listed above are for NYU :)
NYU does not supply laptops...
 
for BU... do we HAVE to purchase it from the school?
 
For SUNY at UB, do we have to purchase it from them??

yes, you do. they send you an order sheet with two options... an IBM and a Mac. if i remember correctly, you should be getting the info fairly soon...
