Hi guys,

Was checking to see if anyone got last minute interviews over the last few days?
I know Vanderbilt had some last minute cancellations and are looking around.
I know Emory has had some cancellations (send the program coordinator an email and they'll see if they can fit you in -- judy.rabern at emory.edu this worked for me and for a few others)
UF also had some cancellations. You can call the program office and they will let you know!

Anyone else?

Yes, this happens every year after the holidays. Applicants start getting more than enough interviews and money is usually a little tight. We had probably 15-20 spots or so open in our last 3 interview dates last year (large program, 20+ a year). I am sure other large programs experience the same, which is why many have a waitlist.

If you have interviews you don't want to go to, remember to cancel them ahead of time. It's polite to let the program know, it benefits other applicants by giving them much-needed interview invites, and it benefits you by diverting a tiny bit of the competition from programs you want into a program you don't want. My last interview had at least one no-show, which makes me wonder how many empty seats there were at programs I'd love to match into.
