If you took your 2003 exam and removed the four easiest passages from the two science sections and the two easiest verbal passages from your verbal section, put it on a computer, that would be the new MCAT. The average passage is definitely harder, but you should also note that some of the really difficult passages people have been complaining about are the same topics and questions people were complaining about four years ago. The weirdness factor seems stronger now, because it's not diluted by easier passages.
The funny thing is that for the AAMC practice exams, it would appear that the passages they removed were not the eaiser ones.
