Okay,

Anyone know if COMLEX uses the same BQs every year or if they just cycle through a test bank? I have a friend who claims to have some BQs from years past and he thinks it's going to help him. Anyone know if the exam consists of all new questions or if there is some validity to this? 👎 👍 👎 👍

Also, how "dead on" is Q-bank for the real exam?

Uhhhhhh...... not a big deal at all. A Kaplan guy came to our school and every other word out of his mouth was..."that was a question on COMLEX 2001" or "gee, this question suprised us last year when it was asked on the USMLE" so I'm not sure what you think is inappropriate. What the hell is the difference? I just wondered if I should pay extra attention to that kind of stuff that's all. I don't have anything to hide, nor did I state anything that is wrong. NBOME lets faculty review exams every year so it's no secret what past items focused on. I was just curious to see if they typically ask the same type of stuff and if anyone knew for sure.

Gimme a ****ing break. You show up here asking if any of us think someone should esentially cheat the COMLEX, obviously not realizing that any one of 'us' could be representatives from either USMLE or COMLEX, and then have the nerve to say that my 'suggestion' pisses you off? There are people who take things like this seriously.

Yes, the NBOME lets faculty review things, and yes they also make them sign waivers and yes, my own Pathology professor turns down students who offer him word-for-word questions because he knows it isnt right.

OF COURSE THEY ASK THE SAME STUFF!! 50 questions on sacral torsion, 50 questions on anemias, etc. etc. I dont mean to be rude, but I have frequented other forums where apparently there are people watching out for cases just like this: an FMG shows up on a USMLE board and proceeds to give no fewer than 20 examples of questions he just got, that day, on the USMLE. While this is obviously different from the case you present, it is also, in my mind, risky to say 'hey, I know someone who has board questions'.

To sum up, I would wager that the USMLE has about 5-10,000 questions they rotate through, and the COMLEX probably has fewer than that, so I think you could expect that the questions could be exact repeats every other year (so as to permit retakers).

I would also trust the published items the NBOME provides over anything another student claims to have.

Apparently you have some "inside information" of your own.

Idiopathic,

You obviously are so high-strung and tightly wound that even the slightest little pluck will send you into a tissy. You must just surf these forums religously day after day in a pathetic attempt to establish some credibility in your life. It's actually funny that you have posted over 3000 times. It makes me chuckle.

You are self-rightous and laim! Dr. Harris from Kaplan has traveled to 11 schools in the last four weeks giving pharmacology lectures and his every fourth line is "they suprised us last year when they asked?" I was just smart enough to write the things he said down.

Unfortunately, you will always be laim (most likely) and unfortunately you will always be one of those people that bitches for no reason abouth **** and is just a PAIN IN THE ASS. Ohhhh...did I mention that you are laim and obviously SUCK!

Sounds like a product of LECOM, happy as ever. 🙄

Actually, the last time I checked, I was living in the United States of America where I am "welcome" to think or say ANYTHING I WANT! Okay with you Dr. Mom?

I just put up a simple post to get feedback on how systematic the COMLEX was set up? I am spending little time on Biochem. and Genetics because I have heard that these sections are under represented on the boards. I was just trying to get some info. on how systematic this was and I just made a "catchy title" so that it would get some quick responses. I should not have to defend myself because their is nothing I said that was inappropriate.

I felt kind of threated with the message "I would be very careful bringing something like that up on an internet forum. No matter how anonymous you think you may be" as if someone was accusing me of being inappropriate. I was just inquiring to see if the topics that were emphasized by Kaplan were accurate year after year.

It's good to be open about this stuff because their is nothing to hide. I'm all about honesty and I am honest when I say that Idiopathic is laim and it is quite possible that, yes, you Dr. Mom might be LAIM yourself. Did I mention that you might be laim too Dr. Mom?

Actually, when you registered here, you had to agree to the terms of service (TOS) of the forums. Personally attacking someone here is a violation. If you want to continue to have access to the forums you need to tone it down.

I love LECOM. It's a place where everybody is friendly and the administration will do anything to help you out and be friendly toward you. There are no stupid rules here and the professors stay forever because they love it so much. Everyone is one happy family and everyone respects our administration because they are so happy and jolly and kind to us. They don't care what we wear to class, they let us drink and eat pizza in the lecture halls and they even survey us each month to make sure we are a happy student body. This topic is an entirely different threat and I would be more than happy to discuss it thoroughly with any other student in private. I can give you all of the happy little details. "Say hello to the camra"

Dr. Mom,

If you don't like what I post, then don't read what I post. I don't need a "Dr. Mom" to tell me what to write and what not to write. I'm a blatently allow to address you or idiopathic if I so choose. You are both laim and it is not my impression of you, it is just the truth. Don't you have better things to do than to sit around and scold me? You could better spend your time studying for boards!

I think it's lame that you can't spell the word lame correctly (laim?).

When you have enough balls and are as cool as Minutia is, you can spell "laim" however you want. They should have spelled it that way in the first place. Way to go Minutia, keep speaking your mind! I am in your corner all the way and so are the rest of us here at OSU!!! We all know Dr. Mom and one might say that she is "LAIM"

Liked gree's response......

by the way, what are LECOMs average board scores again???? 😕 😕

Okay, here are the facts about LECOM's board scores. LECOM's mean board scores in 2003 ranked third among all medical schools in the country (and yes I am including Yale and Harvard). Drchris's board scores on the other hand will rank among the worst in his class...his large stomach on the the other hand is amongst the biggest in the nation. These are accurate analyses! Believe me, I KNOW!!!

Thank you for sharing your amazing assessments and super kind words!!! The world now is a much better place!

On the USMLE? If its for the COMLEX it doesn't matter as those scores won't help you at all unless you are going for osteo subspecialty surg field or perhaps ER at CCOM.

This thread is garbage and offers no help to any student who is going to take the COMLEX.

Um, yeah Kinda doubt it. I don't know where you got your statistics, but perhaps you would like to give a reference. I am sure all the students at Harvard and Yale would be interested in seeing this as well. DrChris will be FAR from the bottom of our class in terms of Board scores. I know DrChris and he's a sharp dude. Why don't you get a clue before posting pointless crap about one of my classmates? By the way, we were more than happy to let you borrow our path professor for a week.

This was the most difficult thing I have had to read since Infinite Jest. It's going in my signature.

Minutia is right, the word lame is spelled better as "laim." This way, the word lends itself a proper deliverance. I would someday like to have a premier intelect like Minutia. Then I, hopefully, maybe, possibly will be able to articulate my feelings.

I think maybe I spoke too soon...
