What's the latest test day for step 2 ck to get the scores into the match and how important are emergency medicine and family medicine in 2 ck? I didn't do so hot on step 1, and was planning to go into internal med and subsequent fellowship. I'll be doing a month of medicine sub-i and micu subi in july and august. AFter that, not sure if i should go ahead and do Emergency med and family med and then take a month off to prepare for step 2 or take it sometime during off month in december or january. Or, I could take september off and take step 2 at end of september. Are FM and EM helpful in step 2? Would getting high step 2 help getting IM fellowships? I've been getting around the mean on shelf exams and would probably be able to get a mean score (~220ish) on 2ck w/o much prep. however, dunno if it's worth the extra month or two to boost up score but 10-20 points in anticipation of beefing up fellowship app or getting step 2ck outta way and hopefully raise score a bit for residency match. thanks.
