Hi guys,

I just recently applied to the 2017 cycle to SUNY, Pacific, ICO, SCO,SALUS and NOVA. I'm a Canadian applicant who has scored 350 TS and 350 TA. My cGPA is 3.3 and I have 2 very loyal commitments that mean a lot to me in terms of extra curriculars (sports and hospital volunteering). I currently work at a well-established optometry clinic with 3 doctors who are writing my LORs. I've worked here since Sept for a couple days a week. I've also shadowed at other practices.

I have 2 concerns:

1) I'm quite late in the cycle, what do you guys think my chances of interviews are with these stats?

2) On the optomCAS website, I accidentally wrote 12 hours per week on the experiences section of optomCAS when it should be 9. I realized this as soon as I submitted and I cannot go back and change it. I just sent an email to optomCAS because I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression that I am lying. Do you think that they will be able to fix it for me? Any advice for what I should do? I certainly do know that I am going to keep working here and will probably exceed the total hours it currently displays but I want to be absolutely transparent and fix this mistake.

I don't think you are necessarily late in the cycle at all and you should have a good shot at getting interviews.
You probably won't be able to change anything on your application but I don't think it's a huge issue since you will continue to have that experience.

It's not that late in the cycle and you should be able to get an interview. I applied to SUNY last cycle on the last day and got an interview a week later. I got rejected but my application doesn't look as strong as yours and it was much later. For the experiences I don't think it really matters, as long as you actually do have experience and can talk about it

I applied to schools on the last day their applications were due. I got 2 interviews (Salus and NOVA). I'm at Salus now. Your application looks strong. I say go for it. It's not over until it's over. You still have time.
The minor mistake about reporting your hours should not be a big deal. Just be sure to disclose the error when it arises.
