Hi all, I submitted my optom application Dec 29th and I'm wondering if I applied too late in the cycle.

I would be interested in PUCO, NOVA, NECO, ICO, SCCO, SCO, WUCO, AZCOPT and maybe PCO.

My GPA is 3.55 and my first time oat was 300 TS, 290 AA. I'm retaking this week. I've done over 30 hours of shadowing and have been involved in many extracurricular. I danced, played piano, volunteered for several organizations, and was a student ambassador at my school.

If I don't do better on the oat and only interview in February/March am I likely to get accepted?

Also how long will it take to hear from schools this late in the cycle?!

I talked to an admissions counselor at SCCO and she said that anytime before December is considered "early". I don't think you're too late into the cycle but it really varies from school to school. Some schools end their cycle early and others later.
It's okay if you have a lower OAT score since you have a relatively high GPA. Definitely try to do better on your second OAT. Schools like improvement. However I can't really say if doing lower will affect your chances to get in or not since I only took the OAT once.
PM if you want more advice. I interviewed at ICO, WUCO, AZCOPT, PUCO, PCO and NOVA.

Be patient and you'll get that call for an interview somewhere!

I think you still have a good chance at getting accepted. Study your butt off for your second OAT attempt and go rock it!

I submitted my optomCAS early December but didn't have my final letter of recommendation submitted from an optometrist until the 29th. And I just got interviews to PUCO and NECO last week.

Patience, and perseverance.
