Late applicant: Same application?

Hello-

I applied to medical schools this past cycle and am still waiting to hear from two schools (Ohio State/UCinci). I applied very late (around mid September...) hoping there might be a chance I got in, though at this point it seems unlikely. My question is should I reapply this upcoming cycle? I feel like I have a pretty competitive application with 3.7 gpa and 31 mcat (14-ps, 9-vr, 8-bs); I know I have a weird distribution...I'm hoping that my unique EC's might compensate. Would reapplying with the same application hurt me, though I would likely have it submitted one of the first days the application opened? Also, I should mention that I will apply to several school in this cycle that I didn't the first time around (however, my top choice at this point is OSU). I appreciate any and all of your help!

OSU/UCinn: you've already been interviewed? Or are you just waiting to hear ANY word from them?

To answer the question, if you were going to apply to a completely different set of schools I would say that you could get away with the same primary application. But if you are going to re-apply to even one school, you're going to have to do something different (and applying earlier doesn't count). Your name will be recognized, and your primary from last cycle will be fair game for adcoms. If they have two primary applications that are the exact same, they'll wonder your motivation and how much you really want this if you've done nothing to improve your chances aside from submitting earlier.

If you want to re-apply to some schools, make some changes to your PS, get started on a new activity...do something different. Give them something to compare. Show them that you've grown in some way, whether it's through self-reflection in your PS, or that new activity, etc.

Yes, just the typical response...it is being reviewed and we will let you know if there is a change in decision :/
