I am waiting for my verification on AACOMAS to be completed, which was submitted in the first few days of October. My advisor hasn't given me a straight answer to this question.

Since the deadlines for primary apps to most DO schools are around February to April of 2013, is it considered 'late' if I sent my application in a few weeks ago? I had a life changing event occur when the applications came available in June, so I didn't submit until then.
I have pretty good gpa, mcat, and ECs. I also applied to around 15 of the DO schools, including the 3 new ones.

Yes, it's late. If your application is competitive you might be fine.

What are your stats? It is not TOO LATE, but you are right in the middle of the cycle. The secondaries will make you late and you will be practically interviewing for a waiting list. If you have above average stats, you might have a shot.

Not necessarily. It's not unlikely that he'll get December/January interviews even at this point provided his stats are good.

Idk, I have been complete at many places since 9/15-9/30 and all the ii's I am getting are at the earliest December/January. By the time secondaries are complete it would be February/March.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck and hope your cycle is successful. If you have any questions feel free to ask on SDN!

Other people who interviewed early and already have acceptances will drop their other interviews if they are satisfied with their school. That should open up some earlier spots for sure. For example, I am going to drop my Nov. 29th interview to AT still in kirksville.

When I applied, 2 years ago, I didn't submit primary apps till early October.

What I'm trying to say is, if you've got an app that can get you into medical school, you're more than likely fine. Not ideal, but fine.

You aren't alone in your apprehension, I had a transcript "lost" in transit 2 times - this pushed my aacomas from mid August to mid October.

Transcript request was completed on 8/19 - called to aacom and school 30 days later, had transcript sent again. I allowed another 15 days to pass and it still wasn't in aacomas, so I ordered another transcript sent to the expedited address and it finally made it. If I could turn back time like cher, I would DRIVE to the address for AACOMAS transcripts and hand deliver it lol. too bad none of my universities do electronic transcripts... sigh

It is unfortunate we did not get verified sooner, but I did speak with a few admissions recruiters that felt I still have a good shot with my stats (3.47 sGPA 3.58 cGPA 26Q - BA, BS, MPA, MSHSA, non-trad, 2 successful careers in politics/government and executive-level experience in health care administration, no clinical research, average extracurriculars)

I wish a member of an adcom on sdn would chime in on our lateness and provide some encouraging words... after all, that is pretty much the point of these types of threads - seeking validation and comfort.

maybe your thread will become the new *-.*-.*-Official Late App? thread, lol

hey I'm late w/ a 3.3c/3.4s/32mcat.........should I be ok? I also applied early Oct. = ( I keep getting an impending feeling of doom when I read these boards... however admissions folk I've spoken with have said that it's not too late at all. I don't know what to think. Anyone with experience have anything to say?

You have a good shot with your MCAT. Your gpa is slightly below the average but MCAT is way above. It will depend on your EC's as well. You should start a thread in "what are my chances." I think you could def get a few interviews.

it looks as though our apps will take about 30 days to process - assuming the AACOMAS verification thread is accurate and no snags pop up (I have 5 transcripts to be verified)...

hopefully the volume of apps to be verified at this point is low enough to get us through faster.

I submitted in early August and it took approximately 6 weeks for verification since it was at the peak. I had to wait because I was re-taking the MCAT and wanted the schools to see my new score.

I'd also suggest pre-writing all secondary essays (essay topics are usually under specific schools) so that you can submit secondaries immediately and don't get weighed down when you get an influx.

I'm an underdog with average stats, so here's to hoping...

Secondaries the honestly the worse part! I have only gotten through 3 out of 11 so far.. 🙁 was verified beginning of October. my stats are 3.6 ans 29O but Iam Canadian ( which in this case sucks).
I am in the middle of midterms right now and still waiting on one more person to submit my LOR to interfolio... so we'll just have to wait and see.
