Yay Laura!!! I keep checking my email for secondaries. None yet, but hopefully soon! Mine's already been "processed" for two days...trying to be patient .

This is good to know otherwise I would start freaking out by------um, say, tomorrow, that nobody likes me enough to even give me a secondary. You might have just saved me from a nervous breakdown

Yeah, I second that.

I was mailed on the 18th and I have 8 secondaries of the 13 schools that I applied to. You know what I am doing this weekend!!! Just have to wait on a paycheck to pay for it all!

how long did it take before you started getting secondaries

I started getting them 3-4 days after I was mailed out by AACOMAS and having been getting them at about 1-2 schools per day since--except today. The school I would love to hear from --I haven't yet-of course!!!🙁

Do you mind if I ask where all you applied and where your first choice

I applied all over the country it seems. I picked mostly schools in the south--since I am from Texas, but I was impressed by Michigan State's program so I also applied there. I am so late, however, I don't think I stand much chance there. My MDapps profile will give you the total list--give me your comments--I would love to know if you think I have a chance. I am worried that my MCAT will hurt me, but my postbac GPA is a 3.75 and that really boosts up my science GPA. I do have about 10 years between my first and now second bachelor's degree. I am hoping that the adcoms will take that into consideration. Most of my crappy classes gradewise were not even science related courses.

we applied to many of the same schools, it is so hard to say what they are looking for, your total package looks good to me, I mean gee a doctor and a lawyer, did you ever think about going into IP, it's a great field

IP would definitely be a great fallback position!!!🙂

wow! Kimmi. if you dont mind me asking, why the change in career?

I always liked medicine and thought about in high school, but due to family pressure (uncle who is a judge and another that is a DA) it seemed that law was the was to go. Well, many years later, the family now has 4 lawyers and another on the way. I decided to go back to school to see if I could actually conquer the pre-med requirements and I am so glad that I did. I have loved every minute of my volunteer and shadowing as well as studying Microbiology. Law has been good to me, but medicine has my heart!😍

anyone a delaware resident? im working on my secondaries right now, havent heard anything from PCOM. i have a 3.2 gpa and a 25 S (10 V, 8 B, 7 P). crossing my fingers to get in somewhere. stats anyone?

Two of my friend applied last year to LECOM-Bradenton, but not until end of December/January! They both interviewed, and were BOTH accepted! Of course they had to wait until about May to find out they were accepted, but they're there now and loving it!

I submitted my primary November 2nd and am getting some secondary requests now. I waited so long because I was going through a lot of personal stuff and was having a difficult time finding a job. If I didn't have a job, there was no way I could afford the cost of the entire application process, plus interviewing. If I couldn't afford everything, then even just paying up for the primary apps would be a waste because I couldn't go further than that. But now I have been blessed with a great job working for the doctor I was shadowing and am fully committed to getting my butt into medical school!

All you can do is as much as you can. I've lost my confidence many times, but I'm still very much in the running and am only a little upset now that I doubted things before. So, from experience, I'd say that losing your confidence is one of the worst things you can do--so don't! Look ahead and take things one step at a time! Push aside all the "what-ifs" as difficult that is, and focus.

Best of luck, everyone!

I totally agree! Thanks for the great encouragement.👍 Keep us updated on your progress. Wow, that's great you have been getting secondaries so soon. I'm getting antsy waiting for mine to come in. It still seems weird that I haven't received any and my primary was processed 11/25. Oh, well all I can do is wait...and pray.

The amazing thing is that my Pre-Med Advisor from my undergrad told me he just sent all the letters on VirtualEvals yesterday, so the schools will get the LORs before they even get my secondary! Hopefully that won't confuse them .

I've submitted the three secondaries that are there on the internet, LECOM B, LMU and PNU....These are also the only three schools I have heard from asking me to submit secondaries, I"m afraid I'll get rejected pre secondary from everywhere else and post secondary from those

I know how you feel. Each day I don't get a secondary, I feel more insecure. I don't think I should worry too much about it though, until like two weeks go by and still nothing. I am a little worried about SOMA because their website said they send out secondaries automatically the next day...hmmmm...

I guess I'm just confused because my stats are average or slightly above for matriculants, so I wasn't planning on any pre-secondary rejections. This whole process is nerve-wracking which ultimately makes me start doubting everything.

Another late bloomer here...waiting to be verified...should i wait to get the secondaries?

Applied to UMDNJ, NYCOM, and PCOM. MDApps is on the left...feel free to tell me what you think my chances are of getting an interview...

as far as the clinical exposure side works...i have to hold out until January...arg.

i think you might get some interviews. you're pretty late though. NYCOM i haven't heard a peep from and i've been waiting for a secondary since sept. PCOM is really really slow. I'd broaden you clinical and the amount of DO schools though...

recommendations?

I think i can still add now right?

Yay just got my secondary from Western! woo hoo, four down, five to go

Yay my first secondary just came!!!! It's from Western too!!! 😍I just went running around my house in celebratory squeals! I'm such a nerd!
Yay! Somebody loves me! :banana::banana:

I did the exact same thing----it's the little things. Western's secondary is much more labor intensive than the other three, good thing this quarter is almost over so I can focus on doing all of these

Do you have an md apps Dancer? where else did you apply?

No, I don't have an MD apps, I should probably do one. I applied to five schools: Western, Touro-CA,NV, AZCOM, SOMA. I'm determined to stay near home in southern cali, which I'm hoping I can actually accomplish even though it's so late in the cycle. I probably should be more flexible at this point in the game, but I'm waiting to see how those schools take to me. Where have you applied?

you guys, i'm having trouble posting a new post -- not a reply

Yay,🙂 I finally finished all my secondaries. I'm just waiting on some friends to check through all my essays and I'll be sending them out to schools on Monday. Sending out to Ten schools so hopefully I'll get some interviews at some of them.

Nice work! Ten secondaries at once...yeesh. When did you start getting the secondaries? How long did it take to get all ten?

I just heard from SOMA today, as well as KCOM and my AACOMAS has been out since 11/19. I heard from KCUMB yesterday. I must say I am impressed with them!👍

I am so jealous. I am planning to get 9 secondaries out this week, since I found out the I am now exempt from taking my Virology final!!! I have several of my essays written--I just need to sit down and put them all together!!

oh that's good to know that SOMA takes a couple weeks. I'll try to stop thinking about it then

I submitted my payment and designations in October, but AACOMAS still has not finished calculating my GPA nor have they mailed primaries. Does it normally take so long this late in the season? I emailed them last week, but have yet to receive a response. I think I've already missed the deadline at MSU. 🙁

I've gotta say, that's nice to hear. I've applied to 8 or so school in the past month or so, but still have almost 15 more I want to get done. I'm just buried under classes and research :scared: But at least it's possible.

Oh yeah, and winter break is approaching. That will help a little 😉

As for secondaries, I was wondering if you get them from every school applied to? I have received a bunch and wonder if they really looked at my app? Not that its bad, but I was surprised at the quick response. Also, this is a business....Im sure the sec app costs are factored in and welcomed by the schools....just skeptical thats all. Anyone??

If you meet the minimum GPA and MCAT requirements for each school you will receive the secondary. That's for almost all schools anyway. They really start weeding out when deciding who gets an interview.

Thats what I was wondering. I have received numerous secondary apps, but I havent taken the MCAT yet. Im taking it Jan 26...any idea why I received these?? I dont want to waste my time or money.

Well there's also quite a few of the schools that only "screen" based on GPA. I don't think it would be a waste of time or money unless you plan on spectacularly bombing the MCAT. I received Touro-NV's secondary before they received my MCAT score and then once they got my score they took it back. So just don't get below a 23!! :luck:

i've gotten secondaries too without taking the mcat I don't think it is that rare

I'm glad I found this thread! I'm applying to MD and DO programs. I have 2 more MD secondaries to finish and then I'll spend a day just finishing my AACOMAS app. I figured since the deadlines are later, it would balance out! I work like 60 hrs a week, and I'm taking 10 credits this semster (non trad so I'm a late bloomer in many ways). Anyway, I'm glad to see there are others in the same boat (there's comfort in numbers you know?). G'luck to everyone!

well ive gotten a ton of secondaries already...and my application has only been out at the schools for four days.
many of the essays they are asking me to write point to things i already covered in my personal statement. Since i got the secondaries so quickly...what exactly was the point of that personal statement then? should i just be redundant for my secondary essays? i mean, i kinda have to in order to address the questions asked...
this isnt right!

Good question. How long should these secondary essays be and is it ok to be redundant. Have the schools even read my personal statement?

DancerDoc, did you get your secondary yet? I just got mine today for SOMA. That means I've heard from all the schools I applied to except for Nova

haha yeah just got it this morning too! I just posted on the SOMA thread!

Any of you still working on secondaries??? I'm curious to see the progress we've all been making! 👍

I'm actually working on secondaries as we speak lol. I have CCOM, PCOM, and PCOM-GA to do..luckily all of them are very very similar. NYIT sent me a notification that only interviewees will receive a secondary, and I'm still waiting to hear back from Lake-Eerie. Anyone else?

You can just go on Lake Erie's website to complete the app's online.. you don't need to wait for them to contact you 🙂

Wow, I'm starting to panic now! I had my app complete in Sep, and started getting secondaries right away. Well, now all of my secondaries are in, but I'm still waiting on my DO LOR! I have called his secretary, emailed, etc. I don't want to pester him, but I need that stupid letter before I'm even considered! This really sucks! I had soo hoped to have some interviews scheduled before the new year. I don't even know if I'll be complete before the end of the year now. And, to make it worse, I only took one class this semester because I just had a baby, and I didn't do very well in it (not sure of my grade yet), so that's not going to reflect well on my app.
