Ok, for those of you who read my previous post a week or so back, I was contemplating a late change to OB/gyn from anesthesia. I FINALLY got a chance to meet with the OB/gyn faculty today and... I'm going to do it! I meet with my dean tomorrow, I'm freaked out as hell, but I feel like this is really the right decision.
So, now I have to come up with a list of places to apply, which is pretty tricky since about half of them have deadlines of 11/1 or earlier (although my PD and my dean (informally) have said they will go to bat for me to try and get a late app considered at a few of these places).
So, any recs on programs? Is it best to have a good mix of community and academic (this is very different than in anesthesia, where you don't really have any community)? Ideally I'd like to stay in the south or midwest, and would consider the northeast as well (I know its more competitive by my fiance is finishing a PhD up there).
Anyways, any advice would be sooo appreciated right now since I'm about to completely freak out. Thank you!
