hi! i just got invited for an interview in april, which is cool, but obviously very late in the admissions cycle. What are the chances that i could actually be admitted at that point? Or am i just being interviewed for the waitlist? if anybody could let me know, i'd truly appreciate it.

😕

It depends where, but I would assume if you've been granted an interview, you have a shot at an outright acceptance.

A school needs to have made as many offers as it has seats by March 15 but every school needs to make more offers than it has seats (because no school enrolls 100% of the people to whom it makes offers). Some schools do interview later in the season(March -April) knowing that they will need to make outright offers by May 15. You can get an offer by May 15 if you interview in April so it is not by default an interview for the waitlist.

Unless you can talk to a reliable source about the specific school you are interviewing at you won't know for sure.

I say, if you have the money and like the school, go for it. I found my interview trips to be quite enjoyable.

Hmm.... this is great to know. I was recently invited to interview at my #1 choice 🙂 I was thinking it was an automatic-waitlist, but I guess there is hope!
