I'm thinking of taking the 5/8 MCAT, which means that I won't receive my score until 6/10, and I won't submit the application for at least several days after that (since I have to consider what schools to apply to based on that score). However, since the application is able to be submitted on 6/3, I'm wondering if I'm at a disadvantage for turning it in a couple weeks late. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Obviously you'll be at a minor disadvantage. You should make a school to MCAT breakdown prior to receiving your score, imo (assuming your other stats + ecs hold constant)

Apply as you normally would but to only one school (your instate public?). You can then add schools after you get your MCAT score.

+1. This is what I did this year and it worked out perfectly. Adding only one school gets the verification process started so you aren't at a delay at all. Once your MCAT scores come in they will be automatically added to your application.

There's really nothing late about applying in the first half of June.

Thanks for the replies guys! I actually live in California, so I think I'll just apply to all in-state schools (both public and private) and submit on the 3rd. Then I'll add in more schools accordingly after the 10th, once I know what my score is. Do you guys agree?

Yes.

That's not late at all. I took my mcat may 23 last year, submitted AMCAS immediately after it opened, and had my scores back in time for when AMCAS releases the first applications. Just apply to one school to start off, get your app verified, and add schools when you get your mcat score back

Does anyone know when they release those first batch of applications to medical schools this year? I can't seem to find a date on the AAMC website (it only says that it opens for submittal 6/3).

That's not very late. Why not apply broadly before you get your scores (unless its a money issue)? You'll get your app in earlier if that matters a lot to you.

Unfortunately, I do have some financial issues, but I also understand that I don't have much choice but to apply broadly since I live in CA. Still sucks though haha

May MCAT isn't late. I took mine in August and my app wasn't complete until late September with my score. Taking it in AUGUST is late. FWIW, i'm graduating in 2 months so clearly it's possible to get in with a late MCAT
