So tomorrow is November 15th, which is match day for TX schools. Unfortunately I haven't gotten a single interview invite from any of them, which makes me feel like ****. I'm very happy with my DMU acceptance, but I feel like my stats are solid enough for at least TCOM.

I'm trying not to be bitter about it... but that in-state tuition and going to a great TX school would've been really nice! 🙁

It is... I think they finish sending invites in December. Although, I'm not banking on this since I finished my application in June, lol.

Don't give up hope til its completely over, I would send letters of interest if you haven't already.

so i dont know if people follow MMOs but I got invited to beta test Star Wars: The Old Republic this past weekend....I definitely know what I'll be doing until med school starts lol

talk about an awesome game and this is coming from a guy who didn't really like WoW

I got the invite as well and I'm a big MMO player (well, used to be....). I've heard that it sucks though lol.

I'll have to check it out for myself.

what i liked were the storylines..like you hear your character speak as each quest has voiced narration...each class is pretty unique and they have the morality system that i loved about Knights of the old republic..my big bro has been telling me about it for years (since it was announced) was kind of ehh about it but once i got playing i just really loved the experience
and of course i loved just being a sith and force choking everyone hahaha
 
I used to be addicted to this game called Star Wars: Jedi Academy back in high school. It was the sequel to Jedi Outcast 2.

I joined a clan and worked my way up the ranks to Council member/General. I spent so much time on this game and organizing tournaments, matches, and meetings...

It was tempting to put this under "leadership experience" on AACOMAS. 😛
 
I used to repeatedly squat over the victims of my AWP....

lets just be honest...Star Wars is such a great trilogy...minus the prequels except the 3rd prequel which I thought was pretty good mainly cuz of all the awesome battles...I so can't wait for the 3D re-release....definitely gonna be better than the 3D re-release of Titanic...ughhhh why would anyone wanna see that movie in 2D let alone 3D!

Omg yes, I'm one of the biggest star wars nerds this side of the Milky Way.

The prequels were OKAY... there were good parts to episode 1/2 (mainly just the action scenes). Episode 3 was pretty epic... the yoda/sidious scene should've been MUCH longer. They totally made Yoda look weak in that fight by giving up after falling? Really...?

Sorry, I'm still VERY VERY bitter about that. I know Yoda had to lose the fight, but c'mon...
 
since we're on the topics of games... anyone up for reviving some old games like diablo 2? 😀

What a game!! Double overtime against the number 2 team, who does that??

I can't wait until the BCS is a long-forgotten memory of the days of money-grubbing power conferences. As a Boise State alum, I can't wait until the congress steps in and says, "okay, this has gone too far".

In other news, good games tomorrow I wanna catch: 16-Nebraska x 18-Michigan (both 8-2), 3-Alabama x S. Georgia (both 9-1), and USC x 4-Oregon. My Broncos will roll over San Diego State (unless it comes down to a field goal. Oh God...)

I know! Loved it! It's gonna be Houston x LSU, but I have a nagging feeling that the powers that be ($$$) will want to see a rematch between LSU and Alabama. BCS? I say good riddance. (As a Boise State alum, I have been saying this for years now)
 
Im from NY. Not even the city. The state. I have no f**king clue what college football is about, nor does anyone else from about 75 mile radius of where I grew up. You non-northeasterners and your crazy NCAA sports where payment is frowned upon but done anyway.
 
So, I sold my motorcycle, and now I'm looking to sell my 1998 Toyota 4Runner. This thing sucks gas so bad... but I got it for 4WD in the snow when I go snowboarding (I went A LOT the past two years since I got the truck).

Looking to buy a more gas efficient "beater" car for when I go to Arizona. Probably going to commute back to San Diego quite often to visit le wife-to-be. Any suggestions? Probably looking for an older civic but those aren't that cheap ~$2500-3500 for an old, old one with 150k+ miles. Used market for civic's is tough to negotiate since they hold onto their value so well.

Not sure what the price of these cars are... but maybe a prius or camry? They have good gas mileage... especially the prius (~35mpg I think). No smart car though... please.

Fun fact: Bugatti Veyron = ~10 mpg... maybe it has something to do with the 16 cylinders it has.

I need something 4WD for snowboarding, but I like my Jetta GLI too much to sell it. I just beg my dad for his truck when I go... Lol.:meanie:
 
A quick Kelley Blue Book search shows a stock 1998 4runner 4wd sells at $4000-4400. You can get a decent toyota/honda/hyundai for that price running an inline 4 that gets good mpg. Don't go buying a new car, and definitely don't trade it in at a less-than-reputable used car place, as they'll hose you on your trade-in price. Don't make payments (since, well, you won't have any income in the next 4 years 😉 I'd just buy a car outright with the cash from your truck.

Edit: i just remembered the robbery that is vehicle registration in California. Good luck with that 😉
 
Sigh. It's pushing 04:00 in the ER, and I have another overnight shift scheduled tomorrow that ends at 06:00 (and a flight that takes off at 06:15 to my first interview). \

How do night owls adjust your circadian rhythm quickly? I need to somehow turn it around and not be a zombie my whole interview day.

Haha, I have never really slept before an interview properly. Best "circadian rhythm" fixer for me was having a beer before getting into the taxi to interview--made me forget how tired and nervous I felt.

Well the natural way is to allow your eyes to soak up the light emitted by our wonderful sun. But since it's going to be really early morning... just drink some coffee.

Coffee doesn't really pick me up (I'm not a coffee drinker at all either, so tolerance is low)... but if I trick myself into thinking it's working, then it does. Placebo effect for the winnn. 😎
 
Is anyone else obsessed with The Big Bang Theory?

I really wish these guys were real... and I could hang out with them. I could talk science all day... hopefully I'll meet some other science geeks next year who feel the same way!

Resurrecting the thread. It's late, and I'm bored. Just had some hot chocolate... can't go to sleep though. Should've added the marshmallows... dang it.

Procrastinating on SDN instead of studying for my OChem 2 exam. If anything will screw me out of doing well on the test, I'm glad it's SDN. 😛
 
Speaking of Ochem 2 exam...on today's test he told us to create the theoretical bonds that can occur between G-U, G-A, C-U, C-A outside of biological systems.

I took a wild guess and said 2 bonds on each set. What do you guys think?

Anyone here play Team Fortress 2? Kinda an old game... but I've gotten into it recently. Ironically, I like playing as the medic.
 
Lol. I dabble in TF2 sometimes. I like the medic and the spy... that's pretty much all I'll play unless I play with some buddies.

Nice. I'm not too good with spy... my main classes are medic and sniper. I play heavy or pyro sometimes if my base is being invaded, but that doesn't really take skill, lol.

Let me know if you're planning on playing. In fact, I shall play right NOW!

haha, I'm not great at the spy either, but it is fun and satisfying to get kills with it. I run around with Saharan Spy outfit so my kills instantly disguise me into the costume of the person I just killed.. too fun.

OH I had no idea that was an outfit. I thought the people who do that were just REALLY quick or had something bound to a key to allow them to do that. It all makes sense now.

Spies are the sniper's worst enemy.
