**Late Night Thread**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had the original paid app but it broke with the forum update.I hope this version doesn't get an ads update.

So my father-in-law wants to jailbreak my iPad.

What's the pros and cons of doing that?

You can unlock the true power of the iPad.

There's little apps and stuff to make your iPad more userfriendly; cool things you can't do if you don't jailbreak. You can also pirate Apps and get them for free (if you're into that kind of stuff). If you like tinkering with electronics and hoping you don't brick it, then jailbreaking is for you.

The only con is that it supposedly voids your warranty. How, I don't know. You can always restore your firmware back to stock and apple probably wouldn't have been able to tell you ever jailbroke.

A man after my own heart 😍 . I spent like 4 hours on different forums reading how to jailbreak my phone to ensure I didn't brick it. My phone's power level is far above 9000 now.

My iPhone 4's jailbroken so I can listen to Grooveshark anywhere. That's about it.

my Android (incredible) is rooted. Running a custom ROM, cyanogen mod, and enjoying the boundless features these phones were built for.

I'm all for purchasing an app to support the developer, but I'm not into my provider loading me up on apps and not allowing me to uninstall then.

Jail break, root.. Its your phone.

Not according to Cupertino lawyers...

So anyone else notice that "Dr" is highlighted in white in the new SDN logo?

I just noticed it.

It's been that way for a while; if you switch back to classic forum view, it's highlighted in blue.

For the Zelda fans. I've played very little Zelda (never had a super nintendo/gamecube/n64, I went the Sega Genesis/Playstation route) and I enjoyed it.

Omg, I LOVE THIS. I have a plastic master sword and shield in my closet. Wish it was real... Huge Zelda fan here. 👍

This might be awkward, but did anyone else have a crush on Princess Zelda when they were little? No? Just me? Ok.

I was actually one of the people who thought that Link's name was Zelda.. for the longest time...

I really don't know why it's called Legend of Zelda. It sounds cooler than Legend of Link, but we hardly even see her in the original, unless Sheik counts.

ERB?

A few of my favorites: Hawkings vs Einstein, Shakespeare vs Seuss, Mr T vs Mr Rogers, + others.

I don't know why I habitually keep coming to SDN anymore. I've got an acceptance, I won't hear back from my waitlist schools until May, I'm not in school, and all the people who I follow on here are done with their interview season too. There's garbage posts on the front page and nothing new ever comes up, just the same old tired posts. And yet, I keep checking the school threads multiple times daily as if the adcoms will send an acceptance my way in their respective SDN threads.

Anyone else feel this way?

Yes.

I always have SDN and facebook open together... even the tabs are adjacent. This is bad.

Yea, I feel the same way. I was talking to my buddy about trolling teh SDN forums, and he's like, "why the hell do you even go back there? You're already in."

I think I just like you guys (you know who you are) and I enjoy wasting my time with you all. Maybe we're just all excited to start and can't imagine a world without talking about pre-med stuff for the next 5 months.

Yeah, I definitely get on here and look at threads much more than I study. Lol. I love the funny crap that goes down and the random useful information is also good.

Also, it is impossible to think of a world without talking about premed stuff. It's going to be so weird. :scared:

Man it's been a long time since I've visited the forums (like, over a week!). 😱 I've missed you guys.

So it's 3:20am and I'm watching Always Sunny in Phily. Good show.

Anyway, no real content here. Just rambling. 🙂

LOVE its always sunny. Welcome back.

Shiet, me too. Been busy moving to a new place and trying to juggle fixing and cleaning up 3 cars. There's so many new threads, I don't even have the heart to read them all.

Same here. There has been more arguing than normal in all of the threads, too.
👍

Yes between the arguing and the lack of search function it has been rough as of late.

I tried to read one thread. One thread; I picked it at random out of the full page of unread threads. Fighting started after 5 posts.

I think I'll stick to the awesome threads: this one and underdawgs.

Yep. I love these threads. There is actual support and conversation in them. Not bickering about who is going to a more awesome doctor because of degree or school.

I've developed a policy for myself. If a thread has more than 5 replies, I'm not looking... since either the OP already got a solid answer by then, or I'm too late to partake in ze flamezz.

Reminds me of a George Carlin quote: "The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

bahaha

Yeah same here, sub conciously I have been holding back any replies with a post count over 4-5... I found that either I was saying "Yeah, what they said" or people were already firing ze missiles!

Well actually there is an exception... posting silly kitty pictures occasionally.

I was thinking about starting a new thread for this (with asterisks in the name to make it official... like this one). BUT I thought I'd post it here...

So I like to think that I can cook, but I use a NuWave so it's kind of cheating. I've been trying to get some quick, simple, and easy recipes together so I can eat healthy yet still have a variety when living the apartment life (I've never lived on my own... looking forward to it).

I figure we can share some yummy recipes here, or request some. If anyone has any easy frozen fish recipes, I'd love to hear them and try 'em out. I'm attempting to cook salmon tomorrow (it's thawing in the fridge right now)... Probably going to just put some salt/pepper/lemon juice/ginger/garlic... maybe a small amount of honey. Hopefully nothing catches fire.

Learning how to broil chicken has been the best thing I've learned as a know-nothing bachelor "cook".

Heat oven to 350, put chicken breasts (sans skin) in there for 40 minutes with your choice of oil/vinegar or those flavor packs from the grocery stores and viola, chicken for a week!

I made it a point to start learning how to cook, and my gf and I have gone through a few recipes from America's Test Kitchen, once a week. We got the "healthy" cookbook, and it's been great. We've made farro with broccoli rabe gratin, roasted cherry tomato sauce over whole wheat penne, and most recently, I made a rockin' creamy polenta with butternut squash, zucchini, and garlic sauce.

Also, check out pinterest.

Bitches love Pinterest.

This is where my wife gets ALL her recipes. Lol. She's slowly learning to cook from it.

I'm a huge b!tch, so I'll look into pinterest.

So how sweet is the NuWave? Pretty sweet? I think I want one...

I got a FlavorWave (NuWave knockoff) and it's pretty freakin awesome. So easy to just throw something in there and make it delicious.

Also, I second "Bitches love Pinterest." My fiance' (recently proposed!) gets a lot of sweet ideas (home decorations/cool projects/recipes) from pinterest. Foodgawker.com is pretty awesome too.

Congratulations! I popped the big question last night, too! Been together 3 years.

Congrats bro! I'm assuming she said yes, right? Haha.

We'll throw you an SDN bachelor party. I'll wear my turtle suit.

Oh how I love finals period. It's 3:30AM, do you know where your coherence is?
