I have an away scheduled to start on 7/30. However I am also scheduled to take Step 2 that day in my home town. I am currently desperately trying to move my test up but there no seats to be found anywhere.

Are programs understanding about this kind of thing? Would they be really offended if I had to get there a day or 2 late for a month rotation? Or should I avoid that at all costs?

Thanks for any input.

I have the opposite dilemma I prioritized scheduling away rotations and now I'm not sure I can find open slots to take step 2. End well this may not.

Are you taking step 2 early to try and make up for a low step 1 score? If not i think you should move your test to the following month. there is no reason to start off on the wrong foot and make a bad impression.

This. While my step 1 score was average, I still want/need to do well on 2. My entire fall is packed with aways so I don't really have any other time to take it anyway.

I spoke to the program yesterday and they appeared very understanding. It is radiology, which I have heard is sort of a different beast as far as ratations go, so hopefully it wont matter much.

I honestly think as long as you impress them while you are there you'll be fine. It's not like you are missing a day or two for a vacation. Plus it sounds like you'll have to do it during one of your auditions anyway.

Would you want a resident who can't even schedule a test so that s/he won't miss the first day of work?
