Hello,

I received secondaries from Touro-CA, Touro-NV, AT-SOMA, AT-KCOM, and Western. Due to a family emergency in August (father's death) I didn't submit my primary until the end of September. I believe I won't be done with the secondaries until the end of the week due to work. Would that put me at a disadvantage?

Mcat-499(1st try), 513 (129 C/P, 130 B/B, 126 CARs, 128 P/S)(2nd try)
GPA: 3.425

3 years as researcher (no publications or posters but a strong letter of rec from the PI I was under)
150 hours volunteer at hospital
100 volunteers at a zoo
shadowed a MD

*I have just noticed a upwards trend on myAACOMAS application
1st year: sci GPA 2.99/nonsci 3.36
2nd year: sci GPA 3.24/nonsci 3.72
3rd year: sci GPA 3.38/nonsci 3.57
4th year: sci GPA 3.59/nonsci 3.85

Thank you guys for reading and responding

I think you would be fine. I would try to find a DO to shadow ASAP and try to get a letter of Rec from them after you finish your secondaries. Your stats are good!

Are you also applying MD? Any luck?

Might want to add some newer/midtier DO schools to really have a good chance at an acceptance this cycle

Thank you for the response

No I did not apply MD. I was thinking about applying but due to my dad's untimely passing, everything just went on hold. Do you think I have a good shot at those schools?

I'm trying to find a DO to shadow. I've contacted like 5,6 but none have responded.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I see you got a LOR from your PI. was this the only letter you submitted, or did you also submit academic & MD recommendations?
How long have you been out of school?

Thank you for the response. I have 3 other letters; one from a science professor, one from my public heath professor, and one from a MD. I graduated in the class of 2015 so one year.

Wow I'm incredibly sorry for your loss first off. Tough situation regardless on timing.
Submit but do it fast. Do them quickly but thoroughly. You have great stats for DO schools even if it is a bit later.
