In terms of volunteering, currently have 0 hours.

I do agree you are starting behind the 8 ball here. One problem is you have a lot of plans but not much in play right now. Also, an arguably bigger problem is that you only have a year before you apply which is tough because you will have a hard time showing commitment/longevity at one place. Not impossible but tough.

Starting next week as an mandarin interpreter at a community clinic. Will do that once a week for 1 hour

Pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers son. But seriously, that is an interesting activity. See if you can get more of it.

That’s yet, I don’t think I can be a hospital volunteer anymore because of the navigation (UNC system is weird).

Why? It wouldn't hurt to mix in some clinical volunteering too.

I'm hoping to show that via research. I joined a lab first week freshman year. Have been here almost everyday literally, even on weekends and holidays. Work over 40+ during summer and get to lead my own projects/publish 1 first author and 2nd authors
