late vs early interview

does interviewing say, in january, rather than december negatively affect chances of admission? I am abroad volunteering and my travel plans are the reason for the delay, the school is aware of this.
 
That one month isn't going to make the biggest difference.

If you are volunteering already, no sense worrying about it now.

if you were talking october vs january i would say make it happen. december vs january isn't a huge issue, just know that rolling admissions schools can be half full to almost completely full by december, so you are effectively competing for a much smaller number of spots, making the competition harder.
