Hi all:

I have started studying for the NBDEs. I really want to do well yet secure a place at a dental school for 2010 so time is of the essence. My preferences are UIC, BU, UPenn and UCSF and pacific.
Can someone briefly tell me all the schools that have a 2 yr graduation course as opposed to a 3 yr program such as NYU.
If I take the exam in May, will it be too late to apply for 2010. Is there an advantage in taking the exam in April v. May. Will delaying it make my chances to get in harder?
What should i start studying with? I haven't gone through the papers as yet but i have been doing the kaplan review and dental decks.
How good is the kaplan review. What is the best way to get a good score.
I am putting in 7-8 hrs a day. Any recommendations on how i shd plan my studying?

Too many question.

I would suggest you to look into deadlines of all schools and then take NBDE. Also NBDEs require good study in order to get good scores. If you do not get good scores, then no worth in applying schools. You can take some time to study rather than rushing to take the exam. If you are planning to apply in 2010, then you will have plenty of time to study.

In essence you will be applying in 2009, right?

Like Dagu123 says no point in taking NBDE if you are ill prepared.
Do the decks, papers and go thru Kaplan q bank online. And review, review, review(2-3 times) until it all starts coming out of your ears. I am serious.😀
Some people also study USMLE 1st aid and NBDE 1st aid.

i studied part 1 for 6 months and part 2 for 6 months. i used to go to medical library regularly for study close to my apartment.

i applied in CA schools 1-2 months before deadline, while some east coast schools 3-4 months before deadline. it took me about 18 months to secure the admission after coming to USA.

the key is - get good NBDE scores. study hard for your first attempt of exam rather than repeating /retaking attempt. take exam only after you get confidence. dont rush. Otherwise, you will disturb your personal life and time.
